I want to make a pvc sliding gate
l have a deck with pvc railing but have no gates yet. l do not wanna hinge
gate,l want it to slide next to (parallel)with fence and slide close to
latch to the other side.l know l need wheels but am trying to figure out
hard ware to hold the gate up and allow to slide.This is pool deck that
steps up so a hinged gate will either take space on deck or come out and
cause you to come off steps to swing out, so sliding gate would be best l
believe.Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!
''Making'' the gate would be relatively easy, using thick wall
PVC, pipe, ''T's'' & 90 degree elbows. I might try 2 inch ID.
The device to hold the gate to the existing fence might be a bit more
of a challenge.
While I cannot imagine at all a PVC rail fence for a pool, you might try this. I am way curious about zoning & code regs. in ur area also. Using larger diameter PVC, IE: 3 inch ID, or larger, CUT two pieces that will attach to the existing fence, creating 2 PVC channels, that the gate can rest & slide in. OR find some type of bracket, like plumbing bracket, that attach & hold the gate to the fence, appropriately placed allowing in essence what is similar to a slide bolt latch for an interior door. Is the fence a DIY type? Custom crafted? How is the current fence installed, & will it even support a sliding gate? How large is the opening the gate has to secure? If a slider seems impractical why not two opposing gates, similar to swinging ''Bar'' type doors that would open, & could be pushed flush with the existing fence, in or out, pening only one at a time if need be.
